Federal Reduction to SNAP Benefits Effective November 1, 2013

SNAP

Why are SNAP benefits going down?
On November 1, there will be a reduction in federal SNAP benefits. This is a result of federal stimulus money – provided under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 – coming to an end.

How much are SNAP benefits going down on November 1?
A household’s monthly benefit amount depends on many things like income, household size and expenses.  At most the amount of reduction will not exceed the difference between the Old Maximum Benefit Amount and the New Maximum Benefit Amount for the Household Sizes listed on the chart below.  So for example for a Household Size of 4 the reduction will not exceed $36.
